I will be taking a trip to NYC next week. I am proud to say that our very own Counter Culture Coffee roasters provide coffee to a few coffee up there. Hoping to visit a couple. There are also some other great coffee hang out according to the CCC rep up there. If you are in the Big Apple give these a try.
Knave at Le Parker Meridien, 56-57th Sts between Sixth and Seventh Aves: This place is more like a cathedral than a coffee shop, though the coffee is fantastic. Huge vaulted ceilings, elegantly served espresso and a quiet, upscale wine bar at night.
Abraco, E 7th St between First and Second Aves: Possibly the smallest coffeeshop in the city, Abraco is also almost unquestionably the best. Run by a former Blue Bottle barista named Jamie McCormick, who is kind of the mad scientist of coffee in NY. Awesome little snacks (olive cookies!) and a great vibe in here, even if there isn’t one single place to sit down.
Everyman Espresso, E 13th St between Third and Fourth Aves: This little coffee bar is in the lobby of a theater, but there’s free Wi-Fi and it’s pretty spacious — plenty of seats (usually) and great, great coffee.
Ninth Street Espresso — there are a couple locations, but I think the one on E 10th between Aves A and B is the nicest, since it’s right on the park. Newly an Intelligentsia account, and one of the classic “great” coffeeshops in NYC. There is also a NSE outpost in Chelsea Market.
Café Grumpy, W 20th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves: Definitely one of my favorite shops. They serve coffee from a couple different roasters, have two Clover machines and make every coffee to order. Great, friendly staff, too!
Ost Café, E 12th St at Ave A: Serve Intelligentsia, beautiful little spot, very quaint with great atmosphere. Great place to have a meeting…if you can snag a table.
